Canine Secrets You Really Should Know About!

Mar 03, 2021

Dogs are mankind's best friend. They’ve been by our sides for thousands of years, and we couldn’t be happier because of it. After all, dogs are good for getting exercise, or cuddling up on the sofa with, and for generally having a faithful and loyal companion at all times.

However, there are a lot of things you might not know about dogs, and new things about your puppy are being discovered every day!

So, whether you’re a new dog owner, or you consider yourself a bit of a canine expert, there are a few things about dogs that even the most veteran of dog owners tend not to know or forget about. Let’s go into a little more detail about the hidden traits dogs share; if you want to form a better bond with your pooch, make sure you keep them in mind.

How Clever is Your Canine?

Dogs are often quoted as being as smart as a two year old toddler, and that’s something to keep in mind when training them. They understand basic commands, and with a bit of repetition, they can be taught to do all kinds of things. So, if you know what a two year old is like, you’ll much better understand what your dog is capable of!

But even then, your dog’s intelligence may surprise you. For example, have you ever asked yourself does my dog think I’m their mom? After all, we think of our pets as our little babies, and we wonder if they see us reciprocally. Truth is, your dog knows exactly who you are, and that you’re a different breed entirely!

Your Dog’s Emotions

Your dog has a lot more emotions than you think he does, and he shows them in a lot more ways than you might think too! They feel genuine jealousy when they see their owner interact with other dogs, and they’re so in tune with your own feelings, they can smell when you’re happy or sad or even frustrated or scared.

All in all, a dog experiences all of the six basic emotions, including love for the people and places around them, and they can get angry and disgusted too! Why not keep an eye out to see if you can spot these emotions in your dog’s expression or behaviors?

Their Health Benefits

Owning a dog can have so many health benefits for you, and of course, a well cared for dog is going to be a healthy dog in return. They’re going to sleep and eat well, and getting them as much exercise as they need keeps their muscles and bones strong.

And in return, they can make you more active and less stressed, help you to feel more confident in social situations, and ultimately, you’re far less lonely when you’ve got a dog laying in your lap and demanding some petting.

So, it turns out that your dog has a few secrets, and it’s about time you knew about them!
